Heritage Oak Cliff Grants

Heritage Oak Cliff (formerly Old Oak Cliff Conservation League) held their Grant Award Ceremony on June 11, 2018. They were able to fund $40,000 in Oak Cliff neighborhood grants thanks to ticket sales from the hugely popular Oak Cliff Home Tour. Kings Highway Conservation District submitted grant proposals for a 2019 Mardi Gras Parade float and for the Stone Park Improvement Project. Both were fulfilled in full; $500 for the parade float and $3500 for Stone Park. Thanks to Heritage Oak Cliff for their commitment to the community!

First Friday Social Events

Join your neighbors on the First Friday of every month for a casual social gathering. This is an excellent chance for you to connect with the community, meet your neighbors face to face, and visit with old friends. Whether you just moved to KHCD or you’ve been here your entire life, we want to see you!

Each event is generously hosted at a neighbor’s home, see the calendar for addresses. Hosts provide light refreshments for guests. If you’d like to volunteer to host a First Friday in your home or in your back/front yard, please email us at khcd.communications@gmail.com.

National Night Out Recap!

On October 1st, Kings Highway residents participated in a first all Oak Cliff National Night Out event at Kiest Park.  Residents met up at Stone Park for some beverages and snacks, decorated their bicycles and participated in a joint neighborhood bicycle ride down Edgefield to the event!  Kings Highway and Elmwood residents made up the group.

Next year, the hope is to get much more participation throughout all north Oak Cliff neighborhoods for this very successful annual event!

This event was started with the help of Kings Highway neighbors Pierrette La Cour and Jeanne-Marie Browning.  Jeanne-Marie’s Oak Cliff Crêperie will be turning out crêpes délicieuse – I prefer the Nutella Banana myself! Entry is $10, which includes a wine glass and your choice of red or white wine, refills are $6 each. Get your tickets now, they are going quick!
